health and environment journalist

I cover stories that span health, science, and the environment. I'm particularly interested in covering pollution, environmental health, and environmental remediation. My work has been featured in NPR, Science, NatureChemical and Engineering News, and Breastcancer.org.

In 2023, I was a AAAS Mass Media Fellow at NPR, where I wrote about domestic and global public health. I'm currently an Editorial Fellow at Breastcancer.org.

former chemist

I graduated with my PhD in chemistry from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in May 2024. There, I spent time developing new ways to make a group of compounds found in nature, called resveratrol natural products, in  Dr. Corey Stephenson's lab

In graduate school, I was involved in a number of science communication projects, including a fellowship at UM's Natural History Museum. I also ran the podcast My Fave Queer Chemist from 2020-2024, which shared overlooked stories of LGBTQ+ chemists and scientists. â€‹â€‹

and more!

I enjoy hiking through new and old places, from the Southern hills of the Tennessee River Valley to the swamps of Louisiana and hidden park gems of Brooklyn.

At home, I enjoy baking, crafting, and watching women's basketball. One day I hope to master the banjo that's been hanging on my wall for years.
